For my first official post back to start off the New Year I felt it be fitting to post about my New Year resolutions. I have put a few weeks of thought and planning to create these goals and think there is no better way to hold myself accountable than by posting them on the Internet for all to see. I have never created goals before thinking they were silly because in 12 months… are you really going to remember what you decided on one evening? Probably not. But this year I have a whole new approach to goals and that’s because after reflecting on my 2018 I know that I can be whoever I want as long as I work to create that life.
As mentioned in my previous post “New Year, New Me” I have decided to come up with a word of the year. My first ever word will be “Growth”. I want to improve mentally, physically, financially… literally anyway possible. To help me feel less overwhelmed I’ve separated my goals into categories. If you created goals for the New Year, remember that you have 12 months, 365 day to achieve them…and you don’t have to be perfect to do so.
-Paleo based diet
Why? It’s healthy, will give me energy and the nutrients I need, and gluten and dairy can sometimes make my tummy hurt (we don’t need that negativity in our life). I say “based” because I want In-n-out with a roll and a milkshake here and there. Also I like peanuts so I’m going to eat them.
-Super foods & me= BFF’s
Why? They don’t call them super foods for nothing. I just purchased a bunch of Tropeaka powders and cannot wait to start incorporating them into my diet. I purchased 2 over the summer and let me tell you…. I LOVE them. I can feel a difference and even noticed a difference in my skin.
-Listen to my body
If I crave something, I’m not going to pretend its not there. I am not going to force myself to limit what I want. I am though going to find healthy alternatives and try to eat more good than bad. Health is important abut you only live once.
-Listen to my body pt. 2.
Why? If I’m not feeling a particular style of work out or am too tired overall I am not going to make myself complete it. Training should be fun and I have so many different styles that I enjoy (yoga, spin and Pilates)
Why? I am an all or nothing type of gal. Sometimes I want to workout twice a day all seven days of the week and other times…the thought of working out doesn’t cross my mind for two months. I’m going to meet these two extremes in the middle and aim for exercise twice a week.
Why? I need a steady morning routine. The same first 30 minutes of my day will help ensure a positive start to the day. No more waking up 15 minutes before I have to leave for internship or playing a game of “how fast can I speed without getting pulled over”
Yeah this is an odd “goal” to make. But I think it’s one to focus on. Reminding myself what I’m grateful for and pick out positives from the day will help me go to bed feeling happy.
I get that it’s only day 2 of the new year but I feel that writing my goals down followed by a reason why is really helping them set in my brain and getting me excited to work towards them. I am so excited to slowly better myself over the next year and bring ya’ll along with me
