We all want clean pores and nice looking skin so we usually result to using face mask. The claim is that a charcoal face mask does the job best (and I tend to agree) yet there are 1,000 to choose from. Lots of people will tell you to buy the Glamglow Supermud because it’s simply the best. So you head to Sephora, pick it up and notice the $60 price tag. Can a mask this much be worth it?
I bought it, liked it but once I ran out, a Sephora worker convinced me to try the ORIGINS one. She told me it worked just a good but cheaper. So I decided to put them to the test.

Now to get photos close up of pores is extremely difficult and not cute so although I couldn’t document it I did take a close look. I had a few breakouts on both sides of my cheeks, one on my forehead and my pores were clogged. I applied the origins product first to the right side of my face. I used quite a bit of product but didn’t put too much thought into it. I did get a little frustrated with trying to get a full even layer so I did kind of give up.
On the left side of my face I applied the glamglow face mask and this is where I started to see some differences between the two. A little amount of product goes a long way. It applies in an even, thick layer as well. When I say a little amount of product, I’m talking a little. This comes sealed and the product that was stuck to that foil is what I applied to my face. The origins one, I squeezed out a decent amount of product 3 or 4 times before I gave up.
Besides the amount of product I realized that the origins mask does not change color while drying where as the glamglow turns a light grey. I guess this isn’t a big deal but it’s a fun little feature. After I took it off, my face was super red on both sides which is normal for my skin so I didn’t look close up. A few hours after the mask I noticed the glamglow side looked refreshed, even and my breakouts were smaller and less irritated. On the right side of my face (origins) my cheeks were splotchy, breakouts were still red and I noticed a few more impurities were pulled to the surface. I even asked my mom which side seemed better from my face mask and she pointed to the left (glamglow).
Final rating/quick overview:
|Not every blackhead was pulled out but my skin look renewed and definitely had cleaner skin|
|Origins Clear Improvement Activating Charcoal||
|The amounts of blackheads around my nose were reduced but the pimples I had seemed to be irritated and more bumps seemed too appeared on my chin.|
I have no idea if my skin just does not react well to the origins skin product but trying them side-by-side I would recommend the glamglow 110%. You do get fewer products for more money but its something that definitely works and uses little amount of product per use. If you aren’t willing to commit to the full size of either product, both companies sell mini sizes that you can purchase and test them out for yourselves.
Have a good day sunshines!
