They say blondes have more fun, but do they? I’m constantly battling split ends and a brassy finish. Luckily I found products that make blonde hair more fun. Now if you have natural hair you might not battle dead ends and dry hair as frequently unlike me who faked the blonde. Fake it till ya make it?
The first two products are lifesavers when it comes hydrating your hair. Honestly blonde or not, you need these in your in life.
Macadamia deep repair mask
I love this. It works I promise.
It’s labeled as a hair mask, meaning the company wants you to apply it about once a week, keep it on for around 10 minutes and wash it out. That’s fine and I would probably still love this product if I followed those directions. Personally, I only wash my hair 2-3 times a week so I use this every time I shampoo. I simply wet my hair and apply this product to my ends before doing anything else. Then I don’t wash my hair until the very end of my shower. I haven’t collected any data but I’m convinced it’s working since I only go for a trim twice a year and have a quarter inch cut off every time (story time! once I asked for my dead ends to be cut off and my hairdresser told me that was about 5 inches…. wanted to cry)
Side note: obviously a lot more goes into my hair like the next hair product I will talk about, but the hair mask works some magic
Side note 2: I don’t use a lot of heat on my hair simply because I’m lazy and that has a lot to do with the health of my hair.
Yes I just said oil. Straight oil. No this does not make my hair greasy and here’s why. I only apply a drop or two to my ends. I use my ears as a reference guide, so no product goes above where my earlobe is. The reason your ends split is because they are dried out. For hair to be healthy it needs to be hydrated and all of our natural oil comes from our scalp, which ultimately gets washed away. I’ve read that coconut oil is the best to use as a mask but I find argon oil light enough to use a few times a week. I still apply a leave in conditioner after but this is always the first thing I do after a shower. It doesn’t matter where you get the oil (I’ve purchased expensive ones and cheap ones from CVS) just make sure its 100% argon oil.
Now for the actual product that is specific to blonde hair. At a salon, your hairstylist may apply a glaze or a toner depending on the undertone of your hair. My colorist will apply a glaze that cools down the tone so its not as yellow. But the glaze doesn’t last forever meaning my hair turns brassy. So…
Miracle in a bottle. I don’t know the science behind it but it probably has something to do with the color wheel (just looked, it does, purple is across from yellow). Meaning, purple will counter act the yellow tones, neutralizing it out. I use this product about once a week to every other week depending on how my hair is looking and if I’m lazy. This is another product I don’t follow directions with. Normally, you’ll apply this as you would a normal shampoo, washing your hair once or twice followed with purple conditioner. I apply this to my dry hair about 10 minutes before getting in the shower. My cousin told me she does this (but for a less amount of time, or something similar to this, I don’t know, I don’t remember) and I have loved it. I feel as it really helps with correcting the color. Once in the shower, I wash my hair with this same product first and then follow up with the deep repair mask mentioned above.
I’m not a full blonde, but I have enough to use purple shampoo and get a lovely brass look. I hope you give these three products a chance because it’s been two years since I started using them and I couldn’t be happier (I guess you could say we’re serious)
Have a happy day sunshines!
